I am very, very honored to have won an award from the Donne in Musica (Women in Music) Adkins Chiti Foundazione of Italy for my composition "Raw Heart". To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the foundation partnered with the UN Human Rights Office (!) to launch a campaign for Global Women in Music; by the way, how cool is it that one of the UN's priorities is "promoting women's artistic empowerment"?!
Anyway, I responded to the international call for scores, and... here we are! Still pinching myself. I will be in Rome as a guest of the Foundazione for the gala concert, which is on November 5 at the Teatro Argentina. As I understand it, the event will feature performances of our pieces along with an award conferral.
